These tank bottoms are made in the USA out of cold rolled mild steel. Very solid and sturdy, but still easy to work with, they are just the right size for a 2.2 gallon sporty style shell. Only $39- Happy tank chopin'!

Aluminum makes me happy

Barnstorm Cycles/SPCL '79 has been a long time sponsor of the WPI Robtics Teams, handling all of their aluminum welding needs. Here is a couple shots of a frame I just TIG'd for them. These things are crazy. Its awesome to be a part of something a little different, but still very much about fabrication and design.

This is the start of a fully handmade aluminum tank I am doing for a Ducati Monster. The material is 3003-H14 .080" Aluminum. Once annealed, aluminum is pretty great to work with and shape. And becuase its .080" thick, when the tank is done, there will still be plenty of material and thickness left for worry-free metal finishing.

We have been planning this for just about a year now, and so its really exciting to have it coming together. Working on a modified version of our Aluminum Jockey Shifter....this one is more of a pistol grip design....commissioned by an out of state customer for his Unit Contruction Triumph...going to be pretty neat..and its comfy!

So its been a while. its been a pretty busy late season here, which is a good thing I spose...anyways. Here is a shot of the rigid sporty we've been making parts for...still more work to be done...the tank in the picture is a temp tank while we work on his real tank....but you can see the bars and sissy bar are all done...what you cant see but might be interested in knowing is that under the rear fender, which is aluminum, we have grafted a steel fender in, to act sort of like a backbone, so that we can put a rear seat on and not caved in the aluminum fender.

Stay tuned...lotta neat projects in the works!

This is how I made them work together. Modified Fuel inlet from straight to 90degrees so the carb can sit at the proper angle relative to the engine. Without doing this the carb has to sit tilted Way up and will not look or run as well as it should!.
