Monday's Score

In the world of motorcycles, you end up meeting a LOT of interesting folks.... i have had the good fortune of meeting many, many great of them  One of those great people is one of my customers turned friend, Guy.  Guy is an unassuming dude, who just happens to have a seriously bad-ass antique motorcycle collection, and a passion for collecting general.  Yesterday he bestowed upon me a decent pile of parts for a very fair price,  which on its own would have been rad... but to add to is all, while moving all the stuff out of his garage and into my truck, i noticed an Anvil buried under a  bunch of crap, obviously forgotten...
When i asked him what was was going on with that, and if it was for sale.... he simply said, "why don't you take that too, and if i ever need it, ill know where it is."
So i now have a pretty rad "loner" anvil.... that just happened to turn out to be a Pete Wright anvil.
Life is good.

OG XR1000

Just another reason i love my job.... one of our customers brought his almost 100% original XR1000 by the shop today.  The first thing he said was, "Jake, you gotta ride this!"  I didn't want to be rude, so I took it for a short rip around town, and i gotta say, it was fun, and fast as hell for a bike made over 30 years ago!

Scotchster Exhuast

Making some good progress on the exhaust for the Scotchster.  Going a little crazy with it, but i think it fits the bike perfectly.  And its also proving to be a blast to make.

Its all 304 Stainless, including the canister.  Still have to finish weld it all and make the rest of the canister, but at least it looks like something now.

Slowly

Getting the front area of the shop dialed in... its always a lower priority to actually getting work done... however, its important.. i think..

as such, we have recruited our friends and neighbors Joe and Pat to whip us up a custom wall display.  I'm really excited to have some more usable space that will also be nice to look at.   It will have a lower tire rack incorporated into as well, so i can get rid of that ugly one.

Some other stuff they have done recently:

FXRP Fender Fix

Simple fender work:
Busted FXRP rear fender...By design these fenders are prone to this... the light bar that mounts to the lower fender area is not properly supported.  The factory only tacks in a thin strip of sheet metal behind the mounting points.  As such,  over time the fender loses it battle with vibration and getting bumped into legs, walls...etc..
So, since the customer had a non-busted regular FXR fender, we worked this way...as the old one had a bunch of old braze and working on that shit woulda sucked!
add some re-enforcement for the rear light bar... (added a LOT more than the stock, to avoid having the same issue again down the road! )

Welded it all in place, laid out the hole pattern and drilled the holes....  Good as new!
